I am wondering if anyone has ever tried calorie cycling, aka zigzag dieting or if you're on Weight Watchers, the "Wendie Plan." I never last too long trying to count calories or watching my portion without taking a day off or cheating or whatever you want to call it. So I thought this might be a good thing for me to try. Plus, I find that I can eat really well for a few days and the scale doesn't change, then I take a day off and check the scale the following day to assess the damage and my weight will drop.
The theory goes that your body bases your metabolism on whatever you have been doing in the past 24 hours or so. So if you eat the same amount of food every day, your body eventually adapts to that and you hit a plateau. This is supposed to keep your body guessing.
